2) Cookies

In the Website cookies are being used. Cookies are text files recorded on data storage devices, which allow to record some parameters and information communicated to the information system, through the browser you used. These tools thus allow an analysis of your habits in the use of the Website, for different purposes: execution of computer authentication, sessions monitoring, memorization of information on specific configurations regarding the users who access to the server, memorization of preferences, etc.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files rent from the website to the computer of the person involved (usually their browser), where they are memorized to be transmitted again to the site on the next visit of the same user. A cookie can’t call other data from the hard drive of the user, nor transmit computer viruses or acquire email addresses. Each cookie is unique for the web browser of the user. Some functions of the cookies can be transferred to other technologies. In this document with the term ‘cookie’ we are referring to both cookies in the strictest sense of the word, and all the similar technologies.

Kinds of cookies

Cookies can be first party or third party cookies, where with “first party” we mean the cookies that report the website as domain, while “third party” means those cookies that are related to external domains.

Third party cookies are necessarily installed by an external subject, always defined as “third party”, not managed by the website. Such subjects can potentially install first party cookies as well, saving on the site domain their own cookies.

Another kind of cookie are the so-called “Flash Cookie” (Local Shared Objects), used inside Adobe Flash Player to distribute some contents, like videos or animations, in order to remember settings and preferences. Flash cookies are filed on the device, but they’re managed through a different interface from the one provided by the used browser.

Nature of the cookies

Regarding the nature of the cookies, there are different types:

Technical cookies

Technical cookies are the ones used with the sole purpose of “carrying out the transmission of a communication on an electronic communications network, or so long as this is strictly necessary to the provider of an information society service that has been explicitly requested by the contracting party or user to provide said service” (cf. Art. 122, clause 1, of the Code).

They’re not utilized for ulterior motives and are usually installed directly from the title holder or webmaster. They can be divided in:

  • navigation or session cookies, which grant the normal navigation and fruition of the website (allowing, for example, to make a purchase or to authenticate oneself to access to restricted areas); they are actually necessary for the correct functioning of the site;
  • cookie analytics, assimilated to technical cookies where they’re directly used by the webmaster to collect information, in an aggregated way, on the number of users and how these users visit the website itself, in order to better the performance of the site;
  • functionality cookies, which allow the user the navigation in function of a series of selected criteria (for example, language, the selected products for the purchase) in order to better the service provided. For the installation of such cookies the preemptive consensus of the users isn’t required (more information in the paragraph ‘Cookie management’ below).

Profiling cookies

Profiling cookies have the aim of creating profiles relative to the user and are used to send advertising messages fitting the preferences shown by the same user in their browsing of the Internet.

In order to use profiling cookies, the consensus of the person involved is required. According to the application (more information in the paragraph ‘Cookie management’ below) the user can authorize or negate the consensus to the installation of cookies through the options provided in the section “Cookie management”.

In case of third party cookies, the website doesn’t have direct control of the single cookies and can’t control them (it can’t install them directly nor cancel them). You can still manage these cookies through the browser settings (follow the instructions listed below), or the sites provided in the section “Cookie management”.

The User is thus invited to verify on the third party site provided in the following table.

3) Cookies installed on this website.

For the installation of technical Cookies your consensus isn’t required. For the installation of profiling Cookies your consensus is required: in case you didn’t want your device to receive and memorize profiling Cookies, you can modify the security settings of your browser, as explained infra. Indeed, through the settings of the browser used to navigate you will be able to decide whether to cancel and/or avoid the installation of cookies on the device you’re using.

However, we have to point out that by deactivating the use of profiling Cookies you won’t be able to make use of some functions of the Website fully.

During the navigation of the Website, you can receive on your terminal also cookies that are sent by different sites or web servers (called below “Third Party”).
